Control in Shaft Construction at Tangjiahui Coal Mine, Western Company of Huainan Mining Group

Tangjiahui Coal Mine is located near Daluzhen Town, Jungar Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. The vertical shaft has an excavation diameter of 7.6m and adopts cast-in-place concrete lining for support.

When shaft sinking reached approximately 420m in depth, water inrush occurred through vertical conductive fractures in the water-rich medium sandstone layer. Geological surveys indicated the water-bearing stratum has a thickness of about 20m. Upon encountering this aquifer during construction, the instantaneous water inflow rapidly exceeded 200m³/h, forcing the suspension of shaft sinking operations.
